Bad blogger and some upadates

I have tried and tried to be a better blogger, have more consistency in my postings. It is hard. One gets caught up with life and there is just not enough hours in the day.
When I am finally get somewhat caught up with my crochet and do at least some of the household chores, I just feel so drained and tired.
Well, we are still here. Me and my BamBam. My sweet little friend is doing well.
I have changed her diet many times since last October.
I have made mistakes along the way, she even got sick, like GI upset a few times. But I am getting the hang of it now.
Last time I took her to Banfield was on June 10th, she had bilateral conjuctivitis. Her weight was at 13.9lbs which is a few ounces more than she weighted after her surgery last year and about a whole pound less than she weighted before her surgery.
I do feel our love and bond has gotten much stronger since her surgery. I did not think that was possible, but it was.
I shall not promise yet again to try and blog more often. Let's see what happens!

As many of you already know, I have several health issues. I have had three TIAs (strokes) being that two of those were last year. I suffer from fibromyalgia, neuropathy, migraines, seizures.... and some other stuff with long names. The doctors can't do much for me anymore, just keep me on medicine to control the migraines. The pain from the fibromyalgia is just ever present as there is nothing that really helps.

For some unexplainable reason when I am up in the mountains I feel better.  The doctors say it's psychological, I say it's God's doing.

My sweet husband, Mr Kute, sole provider of our household since I became ill back in 2003, has been working 70+ hours/week to support us and is at the same time building a small house for us up in NC. He is doing most of the work himself with some help. We have been building since 2010, slowly, out of pocket so we don't add a second mortgage to our already tight budget.

He works here and every break he gets we drive up and he does a little work there.

Last week we were there and on the way down back to FL, I asked him how much it would cost us to purchase materials for the roof over the front porch. The house has a roof already but we couldn't afford the roof over the porch. He told me it would be around $600.

I thought that it was something that I could crochet like a mad woman and raise that amount. I really want to do this, I really want my roof and I want to look at it and feel good about myself, that I helped my husband.

So I talked to some friends from etsy  on facebook. These sweet people that I have only met online have offered to donate a few items to help me.

You see, when I told Mr Kute that I wanted to make money for the roof, he grinned and being married to the man for almost 32 years I know what he was thinking - 'it's gonna take her forever to raise that kind of money'.

Well, he was not counting that I had so many awesome friends.

Doing something new

Y'all know I have been crocheting for years now.
Some may even consider me a yarn and pattern hoarder as I buy them often. My hard drive is full of patterns and my craft room is full of bins stuffed with yarn.
There are styles and stitches I like more than others. There are also items that are my favorite to make such as hats and baby booties.
I love ripple and chevron style items. So I decided to design a simple dishcloth that would be fun to make.
It took me about a week to get the right stitches but I finally got a pattern written.

 You can really use any color combo you would like. These make great housewarming gifts and bridal showers. They are eco friendly and reusable.

Valentine's day is fast approaching

I  don't know if it's just me or everyone feels the same way - time flies.
I can't believe it's almost Valentine's day again.
It seems I can never get products in my shop in time for any of the holidays, I am always being caught off guard. I can never manage to start Christmas production until October. Now it's Valentine's day and I finally made two new hats last week. I know I should be working on bunnies and chickies already but I had to give these adorable puppies a chance.

New allees

I have been posting a lot about Bambam and our fight against a mast cell tumor. She has one in her left hind leg that I found less than 2 wks ago. She'll have surgery to have it removed this Wednesday the 11th and I appreciate all the prayers.

As many of you know I crochet. Due to several chronic illnesses I am no longer able to work. It's this crocheting that will pay for Bambam's care and treatments.
I really love crocheting or as I call it, hooking (we use a hook.) I particularly like to make hats and booties.
I just made some new allees (short for alligators.) They are my best seller and I love making them.  I have two new color combinations.

Light denim with dark denim as accent color.

Update on Bambam

Today I talked to Dr BB (her last name initials). I called Banfield early in the day to remind them I needed to know how much the surgery will cost and had a few questions for Dr BB. At a little bit after 6pm (they close at 6) she called me.
Our conversation went something like this:
me: Do you guys do CPR if her heart stops during surgery due to anesthesia?
Dr BB: Yes, unless we are otherwise told.
me: Oh I want everything you can do to bring her back if that happens. CPR, oxygen, epi... whatever it takes.
Dr BB: Ok, got it.
me: can you guys do a stain of the tissue removed at the hospital to determine if you should keep removing more tissue right away?
Dr BB: no, we have to send to pathology and wait for the results.
me: if she's been under a long time forget her dental, her teeth are not my priority right now.
Dr BB: yes, I understand. And, Dr T, head surgeon of the hospital changed her scheduled around so she can be here assisting me.
That made me feel calmer. I trust Dr BB, the fact that she asked the head surgeon to be there with her made me respect her more.

Then I asked how much the surgery will cost (BB has the Banfield wellness plan) which I was rather surprised with her answer. It will cost about half of what I thought it would.
I still have to crochet many baby hats and booties to pay for it but I will gladly do it for my Bambam.
I appreciate all the prayers. We need them.

Crochet baby booties with a flair

Y'all know I crochet right??? I have been crocheting for a while now.
I am really thankful for the skills I have acquired to be able to perform this art.
I making a wide variety of items. I have not tried apparel yet.
My portfolio you could say, range from items for babies to adults to home.
My latest obsession, I mean, favorite item to make, is crochet baby booties.
These are my allees. They are very kute if I may say so myself. They are kind of inspired by some 'real' shoes.
The strap swivels to be put behind baby's heel if one wants to do it.

This is my best seller so far. It's a great color for those moms
who do not want find out the gender of their baby before hand.

Then I make the very spring-y Daisy one.
