My little crowns

Last year I started to make crowns for babies to be used as photography props.
I have to tell you, I love making them. They are my own design although I have not written the pattern. I just have notes in a notebook.
A great photographer Lisa owner of Lisa Felthous Photography took some fantastic pictures of them. You can be the judge and tell me, 2kute , what you think of the crowns and the photography.
Warning: too kute babies are included in the pictures. No nap was skipped so everything was perfect.

Aren't these absolutely gorgeous?? If you are a photographer and would like to order one or two or more, hop on to 2kute shop. 2kute crowns are fit for princesses and princes too.

Jan 28, 2014, when we made history

January 28, 2014
0900 hours
We pack the van. Sam scrapes off the ice from the windshield. It's snowing a little bit, flurries really, but we were so excited.

1100 hours
We are at the parking lot at Lowe's loading up some supplies into the van. It's snowing harder now and someone mentioned it would snow for the next 8 hours.

1300 hours
We made it safely to our house. The roads is covered in snow now and it hasn't stopped.
We unload the van. Well, Sam unloads the van, I was busy taking pictures. All of a sudden the snow starts to fall heavily. I love it. It's beautiful but I want to enjoy the snow from the safety of the cabin where we stay not on the roads. I tell Sam we had to go. We leave

Sometime between 1300 and 1400 hours
We come out of the residential community. There's a downhill spot that drops on US64, there's also a stop sign. Sam hits the brakes, nothing, he does it again, nothing. The van starts to slide onto the state road. He tries to throw the van on the shoulder to the right. Nothing. We slide onto oncoming traffic. One driver manages to go by just fast enough to make past our van. Everything is in slow motion. The second driver traveling on 64 almost makes past behind us. He hit our taillight and rips our bumper off. No one is hurt. BamBam is shaking she's so cold, I am happy as a clam as it's snowing really hard. A firefighter offers to get BamBam warmed up. First snow related fender bender.

1500 hour
We make back to Wagonmaster Ranch where we stay. BamBam is not sure how she feels about the snow covered ground.

She gets over it very quickly and starts to walk and sniff the 'white cold thing that falls from the sky'

 1700 hour
I decide to go to the van to get my blood pressure cuff. No one ever told me that the doors freeze in place. As I grabbed the handle to open the passenger door it didn't budge. I fell on my butt and my legs slid under the van. HA! First snow related tumble. It was awesome.

We are snowed in.

Cherokee Lake - June 2013

We went to Murphy, NC, again this last June.
Sam is building a small cabin for our retirement and to get me out of FL as the weather here is horrible.
On the way down, Sunday, Father's day, we stopped at Cherokee Lake, on 294, so our friend, Paul could take some pictures.
I snapped a few too.
Gotta make memories, right?
BamBam had lost of fun and was so happy.

Journal

I have been thinking and trying to see this blog from a new perspective. I am from now on till, well, till something happens and I get too overwhelmed, going to look at my blog as a journal, a diary of sorts.
I used to love to write. That was before I was nominated to be the bill payer and check book balance-r for the family and bookkeeper for my husband's painting business. A long time ago, time gone and lost, before I had the first TIA that changed my life completely, I used to write.
Now with the stresses of life, paying bills, trying to take care of the household, fight the dust bunnies who by the way, win more battles than me, and crocheting the most I can to add stock to 2kute's  shop, I just pretty much lost all the desire to read and write.
Do not get too excited about reading my posts. They will not be full of adventures or excitement or even written poetically. They will just be about the life of a simple family who struggles to make ends meet in this economy with only one income.
I will write some posts trying to catch up with some events of this year so we can be more up to date on the whole Kute saga.
Right now, today, this is where our journey stands: I need a haircut, badly, so I am working on that whole anxiety issue of having to go out and as if that were not enough to cause panic attacks, let someone touch me. That might have to be pushed to next week.
Also, Kenny has blood in his urine. So I most likely will have to help Nate with taking Kenny to the veterinarian. That is priority today.
Besides that I plan in crocheting a baby hat to go with a pair of shorts I finished last night.
And what's for dinner? As always, I do not know.
See you guys around the bend...

2kute Raises the Roof!

As many of you already know, I have several health issues. I have had three TIAs (strokes) being that two of those were last year. I suffer from fibromyalgia, neuropathy, migraines, seizures.... and some other stuff with long names. The doctors can't do much for me anymore, just keep me on medicine to control the migraines. The pain from the fibromyalgia is just ever present as there is nothing that really helps.
For some unexplainable reason when I am up in the mountains I feel better.  The doctors say it's psychological, I say it's God's doing.
My sweet husband, Mr Kute, sole provider of our household since I became ill back in 2003, has been working 70+ hours/week to support us and is at the same time building a small house for us up in NC. He is doing most of the work himself with some help. We have been building since 2010, slowly, out of pocket so we don't add a second mortgage to our already tight budget.
He works here and every break he gets we drive up and he does a little work there.
Last week we were there and on the way down back to FL, I asked him how much it would cost us to purchase materials for the roof over the front porch. The house has a roof already but we couldn't afford the roof over the porch. He told me it would be around $600.
I thought that it was something that I could crochet like a mad woman and raise that amount. I really want to do this, I really want my roof and I want to look at it and feel good about myself, that I helped my husband.
So I talked to some friends from etsy  on facebook. These sweet people that I have only met online have offered to donate a few items to help me.
You see, when I told Mr Kute that I wanted to make money for the roof, he grinned and being married to the man for almost 32 years I know what he was thinking - 'it's gonna take her forever to raise that kind of money'.
Well, he was not counting that I had so many awesome friends.
Come check out my '2kute raises the roof' album here. If you don't see anything you like or need, please like/share/comment on the pictures on the album on facebook. That helps to increase the views.
Thanks for your support and for reading my post.

Doing something new

Y'all know I have been crocheting for years now.
Some may even consider me a yarn and pattern hoarder as I buy them often. My hard drive is full of patterns and my craft room is full of bins stuffed with yarn.
There are styles and stitches I like more than others. There are also items that are my favorite to make such as hats and baby booties.
I love ripple and chevron style items. So I decided to design a simple dishcloth that would be fun to make.
It took me about a week to get the right stitches but I finally got a pattern written.

You can really use any color combo you would like. These make great housewarming gifts and bridal showers. They are eco friendly and reusable.
If you can crochet, you can get the pattern here:

If you cannot crochet, 2kute will make them for you.

Valentine's day is fast approaching

I  don't know if it's just me or everyone feels the same way - time flies.
I can't believe it's almost Valentine's day again.
It seems I can never get products in my shop in time for any of the holidays, I am always being caught off guard. I can never manage to start Christmas production until October. Now it's Valentine's day and I finally made two new hats last week. I know I should be working on bunnies and chickies already but I had to give these adorable puppies a chance.
The pattern is by the awesome Melanie aka 3 Boys & a Ball of Yarn
You can find my crochet Valentine's puppies in my shop on etsy. After all, you must have a 2kute for every occasion.

I have this kutie ready to ship in a 6-12 mos size.

This one is 0-3 mos and ready to ship.

Keep in mind that I can make other colors/sizes. I love custom orders.
So stop by 2kute and let me know what you need.
Have a great day!

New allees

I have been posting a lot about Bambam and our fight against a mast cell tumor. She has one in her left hind leg that I found less than 2 wks ago. She'll have surgery to have it removed this Wednesday the 11th and I appreciate all the prayers.

As many of you know I crochet. Due to several chronic illnesses I am no longer able to work. It's this crocheting that will pay for Bambam's care and treatments.
I really love crocheting or as I call it, hooking (we use a hook.) I particularly like to make hats and booties.
I just made some new allees (short for alligators.) They are my best seller and I love making them.  I have two new color combinations.
Light denim with dark denim as accent color.

Dark denim with pistache as accent color.

They make great baby shower gifts. What do you think of these baby booties?
Come visit me on facebook at 2kutekreations to always be the first to see my new kreations.
